Colonoscopy today

I've been experiencing faecal incontinence for about 10 months (maybe 6/7times). I decided to see a gastroenterologist who suggested a colonoscopy which was carried out today.

It hadn't occurred to me that he was looking for bowel cancer until I arrived. I got the impression today he was just looking for anything and everything to rule things out.

During the colonoscopy he found a flappy bit of tissue (7mm) in size. He said it wasn't typical shape of a polyp and he said it was redder than he'd like it to be. He took a biopsy as well as other areas of my bowel.

He said at the end that there's no cancer from what he could see and I think he mentioned colitis which was clear too.

Stupidly, I've come home and started googling cancerous polyps. He did say if it is a polyp then it would be removed.

My worry is from reading up, a cancerous polyp is likely to be red in colour which mine was (assuming it is an odd shaped polyp)

I did a stool sample back in Sept 2022 and the GP tested for H Pylori ( some kind of stomach bacteria) What I didn't ask the Dr was, if the stool sample for this test would have picked up any abnormalities, eg blood in stool. There's been none obvious from what I have seen.

I've had recent full blood counts taken in the last 2 months and all were clear. Am I safe to assume they would show something if this polyp was cancerous?

I think I've worked myself into a tizz as a younger relative of mine has recently been diagnosed with colon cancer. (I'm a 43 yo Female). I'm not overweight, don't smoke, rarely drink and there's no bowel cancer in my immediate family.

I did a seperate stool sample privately around a month ago which I assumed was clear as I'd heard nothing back but today the gastroenterologist said the results weren't back.

Does anyone have any experience with polyps or bowel dangly bits that turned out not to be polyps?

Thank you for reading.
