Coming off venlaxafine (Venlalic)

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get off this? I have been on it for two months only but I feel like it is ruining my life. Since I have been on it I feel excessively tired. It leaves me constantly short of breath which means I am gasping for air all day. it is almost like that unrelenting urge to yawn without anything to satisfy it. This leaves me irritable and restless because i find it completely impossible to relax.  I feel NO urge to socialise with my friends despite their efforts and continuing patience with me.  My partner is at the end of his tether because no matter what he does to try to help me I always fall back into misery shortly after and I can tell I am dragging him down with me. I started citalopram purely because of anxiety and after that failed I was switched onto Venlalic which I find my mood levels the lowest they have ever been. i don't know what do any more. I want to get off these but all i can remember is missing one day about a month ago and the brain zaps and nausea were near unbearable.

    Hi,

I have no trouble with coming off Ven. I have gone cold turkey before with little impact. Other people really struggle. You might want to consider temporarily going onto an anti-depressant while you taper of Ven, something with a long half life works best I think. The longer you have been on Ven the harder it is to come off so as you have only been in it for 2 months I ould think it shoud not be so terrible?

Find my blogs in the past discussions. It is working for me. Taper off 37.5 every week and introduce Fluoxitine.

it sounds like the issues you are having are partially related to venlafaxin but mainly due to depression/anxiety, you should see youre GP sooner rather than later
