Amitriptyline - Nightmares

Posted , 4 users are following.

Has anyone experienced nightmares while being on Amitriptyline as I have been having them every night since I have started taking them 3 weeks ago.  The dreams are so bad that my partner has to wake me every night because I am shouting and screaming!  This side affect doesn't appear on the list.

Oh dear, I think I should count myself lucky then as only have the nightmares!  Not very pleasant though as I wake up exhausted even though I feel I have slept really well

Not started mine yet, thought that I would start them this weekend as I want to know how they are going to affect me before having to get up for work.  Someone I know said that they just zonked her out when she was put on them for nerve pain.

I take them for nerve pain in my legs and feet 30-40 mg per night and they knock me out I'm like a zombie the next morning but it soon wears off around lunch time but yes they are very effective for me been on them a year now

If you take too strong a dose..that's exactly what they do..it depends on different ppl...I need to be woken up every day, but once I'm up...I'm ok, also it depends what time you take them....:-) xx

Thanks for the replies.  I have been prescribed 10mg so I am hoping that the effects won't be too bad.  Think I will take one about 8pm and see how it goes.
