Lower back pressure while sleeping

Posted , 2 users are following.

For about a month now, I have not had alot of sleep. It feels like when I lay on my back (which is the only way I can sleep) that everything settles against my back. The pressure is so hard that it wakes me up and then I have to sleep sitting up. Along with that I have two herniated disks in my lower back as well that I have had for years. I wonder if that is playing into it. Like maybe when my intestines are filling up that is putting pressure on my disks? Also my stool is like a cow pile for about a month as well. I generally don't feel this pressure when I am not laying down. I have had blood work, urine test and CT scan and nothing. I have an appt to see a gastro guy, but they cannot get me in for a month. It really isn't pain, it is more like severe pressure.  Can anyone help. I really need some sleep.

    Kelly,

This may be a prolapse problem with you rectum.

May be ask for a proctogram.

The back pain is probably referred pain in the anal region.

    Best wishes,

      Hi,

You said you were better sitting up in bed this must be low back issues not prolapse sorry.

If you continue with rectal issues then a sitting Proctogram is best big for you this is early days.

I'm not a doc but have had chronic back pain on waking after lying on my back for 10 years.

When up and mobile I'm fine but I have only 6 hrs sleep a night. If is my choice not to take medication as I'm ok with my back when up and mobile. CT scan confirmed a hot spot L5/S1 prob facet joint related. MRI is the norm for investigation.

Best to keep off injections and med unless really necessary.

Injections are given when you have pain in the day and compression of nerve etc.

I also have prolapse issues that appear to push into my anal region when lying on my back.

I believe this to be referred pain from my back!!! But the specialists have no clues.

I would suggest swimming, and physio.

I prefer to live with being tired and having less sleep than being drug dependant.

      All the best

      Sandra
