Why did you decide for prostate removal? Are you having robotic or open surgery, what is your age, do you have a partner to share the burden?

There may be many downs - bleeding, incontenence, radio therapy, homone implants every 3 months - all in my case - but heh I am still alive coming on 4 years later and with a PSA of 0.01.

    Look on the bright side.

Hi, I just had my prostate removed 3 weeks ago, after surgery you will be sore and the best thing you can do is get out of bed and try to walk. I was in hospital a total od 2 1/2 days. you leave with a catheter which is very awkward and uncomfortable but allows you to sleep without worrying abot getting up to urinate. after 10 days the catheter was removed and I started suing incontenence pads. at first I was getting up every hour to pee but it gets better. I could go back to work next week but I opted for another 2 weeks of recovery. I think it best that I am able to get a proper night sleep so I dont fall asleep at my desk.  So far no erection but that is normal, I went out for beer and had to go to the restroom every 10 minutes but I expect that to improve in time. my biggest disappointment is that I have positime margins so I will likely have radiation in my future and some sort of hormaone therapy. Best of luck to you andrew, hope this helps

Thanks coolhandleuk, it did help. Just a little scurried about the whole process going forward... One question, you mention having migraines. Why are you having migraines, did removal of ur prostate have something to do with it????

coolhandleuk how old are you? I am 57 and had mine removed this pass February. It will get better for you I stopped with the pads at 3 months. I could have stopped earlier but the pads didn’t bother me. My doctor made me stop using them because you need you mind to know that you don’t have a pad and you need to hold it. Still no erection. They say it will probably take a year. Make sure you get on a good therapy program. I would start using injections as soon as possible.

For an erection. Very easy but needs to be supervised. Are you on Viagra or Cialis? You going to do pump therapy?

Hello Andrew. I am also going to have my prostate removed as soon as I can get the appt. Other people have had mixed results but nothing serious so far. My canser has spread. How far? Don;t now yet waiting for MRI results. I am all considering a Radical Orchietomy to remove chance of reoccuring cancer. Both ops are simple and quick compared to very expensive meds , especality where I live and you need to take them for awhile. I am presently on HT now. I don;t like the side effects. Good luck with your procedure.
