Anxiety getting the best of me again?!? Lymphoma?!?

Posted , 3 users are following.

So in June I found this lump under my armpit, at the time I had swollen glands in my neck too so I never thought to much of it, now recently I still have the lump and the worry is getting the best of me I think!!

It is a lump/bump on top of the skin, but then if you push the lump down not that hard, I can feel two smaller lumps inside of it, not massively big, abkut 1.2cm, maybe, im jus taking a guess here.

But now I've started to have pain down my arms, and shoulder aches, ive also had reallt bad itching the past few weeks

I'm 26 with 2 young children, my anxiety is through the roof and I csnt sit still relax and im starting to snap at anyone and everyone, do I have lymphoma?!? is it a cyst?!? can anyone help please!

thanks!!

Ok James, the first thing to do is calm down. I have had treatment for Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma and when my doctor gave me the result from a biopsy I thought my world was going to end. Trust me, it didn't! First things first. Make an appointment with your G.P. as soon as possible. Not because I think you have cancer but because the quicker you go the quicker you will get appropriate treatment and the quicker you will stop worrying! You may be referred to a hospital and you may have a biopsy. Either way it will either be good news or not so good news. Worse case scenario is that you have cancer, and if you have it will be treated, as mine was. You have youth on your side and treatment is no where as bad as it was years ago. I had chemotherapy every three weeks and it was like belonging to a social club! I ended up quite looking forward to it! Any side effects from chemo are now easily remedied so don't go fearing the worst. Having said all that the chances are that you have something totally unrelated to cancer - but you MUST go and see your doctor NOW! Whatever is wrong needs treating! So, good luck and keep in touch, we'll all want to know the outcome and we're all here to support you.

      Hi Joy

thanks for replying, my anxiety is the worse part of everything, if I did have something I could handle it and deal with the but it's the worry of not knowing!

Would a lymphoma lump feel that way? a big bump with littler ones on the inside? or would it be one big mass?

My personal experience was that I found a small pea size lump behind my left ear. By the time I got to a specialist there were 3! It was rubbery under the fingers, but I don't know if all malignant lymph nodes feel the same. The only thing that will stop you worrying is to see your doctor, soon. Worrying and doing nothing about it is a waste of your energy that could be better used dealing with whatever happens to be the problem. You have to calm down, stop panicking, and start taking action. You're in charge, not your illness, so get yourself to the doctor asap.

Yeah I have 2 relatively close together that I can feel, and I mean I'm not expert on them but they do feel different some days, sometimes they feel bigger, some days more rubbery, some days they feel as if they are move?!?

I am going to see the doctor tomorrow as an emergency, my GP is very good and very caring, ill take my partner with me, and hopefully I can start to get answers, because anxiety is the worse thing ever, I never had it till I had my little boy, I appreciate you replying Joy, are you all clear yourself now?

It's only been a year since I finished treatment and during a routine CT scan they found I had a small brain tumour so seeing a neurologist in November - so I know exactly how you feel! It's in the back if my mind 24/7. But so far so good with the lymphoma.

      Hi Joy

so I went to my doctor today explained everything, they felt under both arms and said to them it feels exacrly the same, and it was most definitely nothing to worry about at all and that they felt there was nothing abnormal abkut it, it's the 2nd doctor I have asked in the last few months so I'm hoping Both csnt be wrong!

However she understood and could see my anxiety was clearly reallt bad again as I nearly broke down, so she said she was 100% happy to have a ultrasound done to help give me peace of mind, and she wants to now see me routinely for my anxiety.

I feel like such a loser and like im wasting the doctors time that I suffer with health anxiety this bad, but hopefully once a ultrasound s done thay will be the end of it all.

hope your doing well today x

James, you are NIT a loser. Anxiety itself is a well known medical disorder which can be successfully treated. My own granddaughter has been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder which is preventing her from attending main stream school. Have your scab, trust your doctors and accept any help that is offered to you. This is not your fault, you have no reason to feel like a "loser" you just need support from your doctor and family. This is a form of depression and can happen to anyone. Good luck and look forward to a healthy future with your family.

NOT, not NIT ...... SCAN not SCAB! Sorry.

James, you did exactly the right thing to see your doc right away... no-one on a free Internet forum can give you a diagnosis! But Joy has given you perfect advice and wonderful support - that is what you *can* get from the forum, and I thank her very much, as I'm sure you do!

And please, please: to you and anyone else, don't let anxiety get the best of you and make ordinary everyday life a misery. Unreasoning anxiety *is* an illness and it *is* treatable, you deserve better, and like you said, with a small child, you want to be your best for her (or him).

May you (and Joy) be well.
