Unknown illness is ruining my life

Hey everyone I'm 23 yr old male and 20 months ago my life came falling apart.

At the time these symptoms came on i was a 21 yr old who was fit and worked out everyday, always on the ball going out and socialising.

I went bushwalking (I live in Australia) in February 2015 with my then at the time gf, that night something changed and I felt extremely disorientated and exhausted so I went to bed thinking over tired.

Next morning my legs felt restless, with a tingling, crawling sensation, my body felt fatigued, I felt like I was about to lose consciousness, felt foggy in my head, felt distached and extreme fatigue

This continued to a point later I was bed ridden, couldn't walk slept all day everyday

Eventually was able to get active again to some extent

But still to this day I feel extreme fatigue, like in about to lose conciousness, faint, feels like a head full of cotton wool, blurry vision, legs weak, tingle crawling sensation, when I lay down seems like my body is asleep but my mind is active, heat makes these symptoms so much worse, irratable, disorientated, if I excerise makes the next few days unbearable

Have had tests with no diagnosis

I need to options to explore what this could be

I need my life back my gf just left me now forming depression and losing hope

Hi joshua3105, I'm so sorry about you situation and how you are feeling. I am definitely not a doc but think your may be severely depressed. Do you have anyone you can talk to about this? You may want to talk to a therapist/counselor who could help you with this. Depression causes real pain. If you are depressed and you don't get help it could become something more serious. Are you eating right and drinking lots of fluid so you don't get dehydrated? I hope you don't take my response wrong because I honestly care. My son went through a similar thing and he thought he knew it all ad didn't want to listen. His depression became worse and is now having extensive therapy and medication prescribed by a psychiatrist. He's ok. He is fine but wished he took care of it before he got so sick. I wish you good luck. Think positive thoughts. It works really. And God bless you. I'm sending special prayers for you.

    Hi Joshua,

I have c.f.s/me ( chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephomelitis) which causes all the symptoms described accept what caused the onset. Check out the ME society website for symptoms. Many people get this condition post virally. Is it possible you had a virus beforehand? Regarding the walk in the out back. Can you remember being bitten by anything insect wise? Has Lymes disease been ruled out? Similar symptoms is why I ask.

There is a forum on here for cfs/me and I'm sure if you post your discussion on there you'll hear similar stories to your own.

Alot of people don't understand these symptoms and they are often seen as depressed as the whole thing is exhausting often and this does lower mood. Many see the symptoms as depression and only you'll know if you are. Don't loose hope. If it is cfs/me-people do get better but, it takes time and a kind of 'reverse' effort. By this I mean you have to rest alot to get there.

    Hope his helps

    Best wishes

    Thanks guys for the reply

Can it be depression when I want to go out socialite and do things like I did

It's my physical restrictions that hold me back

I can't drink alcohol cause get really disoriented, lose about to lose conciousness, like edge of breaking

That really constantly and after one drink it makes worst

I feel detached from reality so don't want to get further from reality

I've just lost my gf from this condition and summers about to start so I really want to take steps in recovering

You could possibly have Lyme disease. Or you could have many other issues I am unaware of. But it wouldn't hurt to just talk to someone professional and let them suggest what is wrong or could be. Like I said I'm no doc but my son felt the same things you are and check it out. Who knows right? May be the best decision you ever made. You are feeling real, terrible, scary pain. That doc will be able to refer u to someone or help you. I feel so badly for what you are having to go through at such a you g age. I forgot but didn't you say you had labs and they showed nothing. I'm sure you were tested for Lyme disease as that's a given with your symptoms. You may get some answers to all this and not be so stressed which isn't helping you at all. I believe its gonna be ok for you. I'm just a Mom who's son suffered like you are.

God bless you and let me know how you are doing, ok?

Hi Joshua3105, Yes he did. He was extremely fatigued. He was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Cervical Stenos is,hypertension. The high blood pressure was hard to get under control for him. It gave him so much more energy and wasn't so fatigued. We know if it needs adjusting because it slows him down. His fibro has effected everything. His muscle cramping and wide spread pain. His cognitive function and brain fog. He now takes meds to help with these things and he had been suffering from depression. It is a side effect of fibro. Who knows how all this came I to play and what happened first but is now under control. He sees docs regularly to monitor him. He is going this week to get his a gym membership. He love working out and has been eating for this day for long time. I hope that helps you. Feel free to ask any questions at all. Take care of "YOU"

      Hi Kristy,

I'm In UK and they don't routinely test for Lymes here. It's so hard to get a good doctor that's on the ball and I'm glad your son Is getting good care. Fibromyalgia does also have similar symptoms. I know a young girl who got this from a relationship breakdown and needed home care and a wheelchair. Awful condition.
