I've been having chest pain recently and was sent for an ECG. Dr days my heart rate is to low, but other than telling me go to emergency if I continue to have pain didn't tell me what to do about it.
Just said it's serious and I could die.
Really scared and confused, anyone else have this issue?
If so what was the result please

What is the rate, and do you know if your low pulse rate is an arrythmia? I would imagine that it is, if the Dr said it's serious. Some athletes can have pulse rates in the 40's, but their's is a normal sinus rythym. The comment about dying strikes me as quite unprofessional, btw. A slow arrythmia is called bradycardia.
I think it's normal for older people to have a few bradycaridas in the course of a 24 hr EKG, but it sounds like yours is more than that. Hopefully you will be seeing a cardiologist soon. Good luck with this, and let us know what you discover.

Hi, thank-you for your response. He didn't tell me the rate, just scared the crap out of me which is great for the heart right?!?
I agree that sometimes it's normal in older people however that being said I'm only 44.
Definitely going to try to get an appointment with a cardiologist. Kind of want to get things worked out asap. It's not just me I'm worried about, I have kids to think about and they already lost their dad 6 years.

You need to be referred to a cardiologist as soon as possible. I agree that the doctor telling you that you could die is unprofessional especially if they didn't take steps to get you to a specialist as soon as possible. For your own pace of mind see if you can get a portable heart/blood pressure monitor to check your BP and heart rate or an oximeter which will just test your oxygen and your heart rate. Both will show arrythmia. That way you will be able to monitor yourself and get immediate attention if necessary. Good luck and I hope you get a specialist appt soon.
