Lichen sclersous and water wipes

Is it safe to use water wipes? I noticed that have a 0.01% grapefruit seed extract. Will that make it sting? I just don't know what to use to help get fecal residue off easier than toilet paper. I'M newly diagnosed and need some tips please.

    Hi Toni,

I use Huggies Natural Care wipes and Ivory soap in the shower.  I have done well with both products for quite a long while.  Toilet paper just isn't an option for me.

    Good luck.

You could just try using the water wipes. Have something readily to hand just in case they sting . I can't say if they will because personally I have never used the water wipes with grapefruit.  Why don't you try using some coconut oil instead, I find it really soothing, and you could just use a small amount on a soft cloth, and rinse it with water afterwards. Hope this helps, regards Jackie xx

Hi Toni. I use Huggies with no fragrance natural care. There are others, but grapefruit would not be good. Very acidic. Try to keep all products as pure as possible.

Hi Toni, GSE will not burn at all even full strength, I have used it for many years. I too use the wipes very carefull and gently, followed with a mild Borax solution in a spray bottle and then Vit E to moisturize. Please read "an experiment with Borax" on this site, you will be very glad you did! Good luck!

I just use wipes that are either frangrance free or sensitive. I buy at Walmart...the generic brand. I use them after going to bathroom after 1 and 2. I use Ivory Bar Soap and Dove Bar Soap in the shower.

I see a specialist and she recommended using Crisco vegetable shortening. Just swipe the tissue paper through the shortening before wiping. It's effective and also soothing for the LS. I keep some in a small travel container that fits in my handbag so it's handy even if I'm away from home.
