Down pressure on pelvic floor, worried!

Hi all,

Hope you are all doing fine and making progress.

I am just over 10 months post-op for A&P repairs. Managed to get through the xmas/new year busy period at work. Just covered my basic hours and was actually not too bad as they have been making sure I get my seat at the checkouts.

We were meant to celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary which was yesterday, were going to go out today but unfortunately caught that novo-virus that is going about. Rest of family were sick over holidays, thought I had managed to avoid it but started last night, was sick all night and running to toilet 2nd half of night.

The worst is the gut wrenching when tummy empty. Finally subsided this afternoon, been sipping water since about 4pm, which seems to be staying down but tummy still tender.

Pelvic floor has taken a pounding, pretty sure the repairs are OK, but pelvic floor is tender too, feels achy and nippy and strong urine not helping but hopefully will sort itself soon. Still too scared to eat as everyone else had the virus for about 2/3 days and left them pretty drained.

Did what I could to avoid it, disenfected door handles, switches, taps, washed door sides down, aired the house. Made sure they used their own towels. I was having toast with everything and taking my actimel everyday. At least I got my shifts at work by.

Pelvic floor muscles not working too well so must have somehow weakened them and feel tender in lower pelvis too.

Think the virus is airborne so difficult too avoid.

Anyway hope you are all well.

Take care,

Phyl x😷😷😷

Oh phyl sorry to hear you've been so unwell. Happy anniversary anyway, you'll have to celebrate next week. You sound dehydrated which you'll already have guessed so every muscle will be weakened due to lack of salts. Noro virus is horrendous and despite all precautions it's difficult to contain especially in homes, workplaces and ships!

Take things easy phyl your repairs will have coped well with this but you need to rest and build up your fluids gradually 😘😘

      Thank you matron,

Up and about this morning, a bit weak and wobbly, not hungary at all but had some custard this morning.

Pelvic floor muscles doesn't seem so bad this morning although still a bit nippy at the back end. Glad the worst of it is by.

      Thank you Melons,

You put my mind at rest, was really worried as it felt like my pelvic floor was turning inside out even my hubby says I am violently sick and sounds awful.

Feel a little better this morning a bit weak and wobbly but don't think any damage done. You would think if the violent contraction of the abs don't cause any damage that we should be able to take a lot more day to day; like be on our feet longer and cope with heavier lifting.

I'm just about coping with my 5&1/2 hr shifts at work admittedly I'm still on my strong painkillers and my pelvic floor always feels like it's on the floor 😀 but with my daughter getting married this year needs must but I only do what I can do at the moment at work as I'm still phase return for another week, I've been struck with a horrible chesty cough now so I'm really testing my pelvic floor, pleased your feeling a little better xx

Be careful wityh coughing as it puts a lit of strain on your repair. I think I'll come back as a bird next time😂

Have empathy for you Melons, it's not easy, you will have to be careful with that cough, need to try use pelvic floor exercise to hold up pelvic floor before coughing.

You would think in this day and age within an advanced economy we could look after our young at heart ladies far better than this.

Please be extra careful if possible, and try and rest as much as you can at home, healing hugs,

      Phyl x
