Confused by "inflamed bones"

Posted , 5 users are following.

I had been sent for a bone scan whilst searching for a cause of my pain which has been going on for 10 months now.

When I saw him my doctor he told me my bones are inflamed, and he has since sent me for an MRI, I am going back in a few weeks for the results.

I've tried doing googling and can't really find anything about bones being inflamed, and him saying "probably not cancer" has got me worried.

Anyone know anything about inflamed bones?

Never heard of any such thing. What kind of Doctor is he? I mean what is his specialty? If you can't find it on the internet, it doesn't exhist! I would get that MRI and get a specialist. Even the MRI technition can tell you more of whats going on.

It is possible to get inflammation disease of both the bones and joints. For example osteomyelitis, although it is highly unlikely you have that. There are others too which can be caused by bacterial problems or fungal problems for example. The fact there does not seem to be any urgency probably means there is nothing to worry about.

I have heterotopic ossifications in my right knee which are in my soft tissue, having surgery next month to remove them.

Waiting for results is horrible, isn't it, especially when doctors throw out phrases like  i'Probably not cancer'  Keeping fingers crossed this is something which can be sorted out easily... . I remember a doctor telling me that my blood results showed  a problem which looked like cancer of the liver. .and of course it wasn't!  Still here years later.  Good luck, and let us know the results of your scan . . fingers crossed.
