Constant nausea, upset stomach and tiredness

Hello there!

It's been a month today since I've been feeling poorly. It all started with mild nausea in the middle of the night and I woke up with a stingy, burning feeling in my stomach. I had to go on a trip then and grabbed some over the counter medicine - I live in France and back then, the flu was everywhere so doctors were extremely busy. I was so sick I almost cancelled my trip, but ended up going anyway - feeling like a disaster.

I came home and the next week headed to the doctor, complaining about frequent nausea, stomach aches, consitipation or sometimes diarrhea - he wasn't professional and brushed my symptoms off, claiming it was anxiety. I did a blood test and checked for hepatitis, but nothing was going on with my liver. Only the symptoms were still there, to the point I couldn't even go to any lectures or eat any more. I lost some weight (about 5-6kgs in a couple of weeks) and went to see another doctor, who told me I had gastritis. He gave me medicine to help me go to the bathroom and heal my stomach. I started going back to uni and took a few more trips, but the pain is still there. I just can't let it prevent me from living my life any more. I have considerably reduced my meat consumption, am no longer drinking coffee nor tea and no longer use spices in my food.

So here we are, a month after it all started and I still feel very crappy. I stomach still hurts every once in a while, makes very loud noises, food still disgusts me although I'm eating again. I feel nauseous all the time, which is incredibly hard to handle as I have emetophobia. I also still have diarrhea, and that almost every morning - I'm sick and tired of not knowing what's going on with me and to face doctors who pretend it's all in my head. There are days where the pain wakes me up, I'm stuck on the couch drinking tons of ginger tea and I just can't manage to do anything without almost passing out. (I get shaky, a hot and cold feeling, and bad nausea.) If that helps, I've had a bad stomach flu in December, but got over it in 4 or 5 days.

I'm not particularly stressed - I'm doing great in college, have happy and healthy relationships, am lucky to do what I love. I'm just hoping someone here will be able to give me some advice on what to do, as I'm getting desperate.

Thanks a lot for reading me and see you around!

Could be GERD. See a specialist . Meds can help a great deal once diagnosed and treatment can begin healing!

    Hi revolutionradio

Ask your doc for a HPylori test. It can be carried out via breath test, endoscopy, stool test or blood test...although blood test doesn't always show HP if you have a +ve result it can be treated with antibiotics......best wishes.....

Your symptoms could be IBS.  GERD does not cause change of bowel habit.   See a different doctor and ask for a colonoscopy/endoscopy.  Keep a food diary to check for food intolerances.  When my IBS began, I got constipation, stomach ache that moves about, nausea and loose stools. Even if you are not anxious, IBS can cause anxiety  about your symptoms epecially if you are not getting diagnosed.

    Hey revolutionradio

OMG it's like we are the same person!!

Just over a month ago I had a really bad stomach bug and I'm still feeling nauseous and have stomach ache too!!

Unfortunately I can't help as my doctor has told me its because of my emetophobia that I'm feeling sick, so the nausea is being brought on because I'm scared of being sick rolleyes

I really hope you get down to the bottom of this!
