Hi, I have always suffered with cramp in my ribs, fingers, feet, toes and sometimes my legs. Recently since moving house I have noticed an increase in the cramp in my fingers and toes. I already have spine and spinal cord issues causing rls as well as other symptoms and I'm hoping it has nothing to do with this but the cramp in my feet (the ball of my foot) and my toes is keeping me awake every night. Since I want to try natural remedies before consulting my GP I asked on a women's menopause Facebook group to see if anyone had any suggestions. The main ones were magnesium which you have already tried but the others were tonic water and bananas. I believe the tonic water has quinine in it and obviously the bananas have potassium. Not sure if you have tried tonic water and don't know how you feel about bananas but I'm going to give them a go. Good luck.

I hope your more comfortable now. Did you find Quinine in tonic drinks useful. I'm using 200mg of quinine and only a few days in using and mine have stopped. I'll take until I see nurse again at the end of October (4wks time).

As I understand it, there isnt enough quinine in bottles of tonic water to make a difference to cramp. Years ago my mother was prescribed quinine tablets but now it is impossible to get them either on or off prescription. i have been taking magnesium for years as well as eating bananas but still get cramps at night. I still hope that one day I will be free of this horrible pain at night.

My 87 year old was given quinine tabs many years ago, but unfortunately we cannot get them now. this is a great pity as it would save so many of us suffering these awful pains and sleepless nights. i am thinking of writing to the Secretary of Health to ask if they can be reinstated. Tonic was has insufficient quinine to be advantageous.

hi, im in Devon and the doc has just prescribed quinine tablets for me so yes they are still available 😊 maybe tell this to the doctor or perhaps go to pharmacy and ask for help?

Thanks for that, I will certainly ask my GP to prescribe.

    Hi,

My name is Willem and I am writing on behalf of my wife. She has had ocasional cramps, evening and night since 35 years, across her body. Last few years it has become much more sever and like some others, she barely sleps during the night. We have visited hospitals and spoken with several doctors in the Netherlands, none has come up with an exlanation, let alone a treatment. She is desperate.

I wonder if anybody abroad knows of any specialist in this matter, if so please share these details with me.

    regards

    willem

I am male in my 70s and for several years suffered from appalling night time cramp in my legs or feet. For inexplicable irrational reasons I decided to try deep breathing exercises. When you get into bed take a deep breath in through the nose, hold, until you have to blow out through the mouth, repeat again. I no longer have cramp at night. I hope this works for you.
