Diagnosis is Gluteal Tendinopathy, but doctor only does hip replacements and isn't interested

Saw very good hip surgeon, but once an x-ray showed hip joint is fine, he lost all interest. I asked how to assess stage of tendinopathy and he implied it's not worth doing MRI, etc., because there's nothing that can be done. Then he handed me a sheet of generic hip exercises. I have access to a good physical therapist but I'd like a physician who is willing to investigate stage of tendinopathy and more personalized treatment. I am in South Florida and am looking for recommendation for doctor who's willing to treat this condition.
