Diltiazem dosage cut in half?!

Im a 25y/o female with mild hypertension and frequent episodes of tachycardia as well as postural tachycardia. I have a somewhat high tolerance to medication and when i switched to this drug it was a day after quitting 50mg a day metoprolol cold turkey. I had some bad rebound tachycardia /withdrawals. so they put me on 360mg daily of diltiazem er. the past 2.5 weeks have been much better. hardly any tachycardia. i started having some swelling in my ankles/flushing so my dr was going to cut my dosage to 180mg a day. im nervous this isnt going to work as well. Has anyone else experienced this?
