I work construction and after my relapse have had difficulty being able to work. My doctor suggested I file for disability. Has anybody else had these issues?

Yes Iam on Disability. My 6 Doctors suggested it to me when I first was diagnosed with Wegners. That was in April 2015 and within 3 months I started recieving my SSI . I was very sick as time goes by Iam feeling a little bit better . I went into remission in March 2017 but still taking 18 pills a day and receiving Chemo every 6 months ( for the rest of my life ). Kidney's are shot, need to have a total hip replacement ( soon ) . Yes if I were you I would apply for it ...... Social security help my Doctors and myself through the process . Good Luck 🍀

Not yet officially diagnosed...already had a total hip replacement.  Was caught in web of the Kaiser Perm lack of, well, very much.  Filed for disability though denied after waiting over 9 months for response.  Appealed and now expecting another 18 month delay as my new docs finally heading in right direction with probable kidney biopsy.  I already peed blood and have several micro indications present other times.  How long must anyone suffer??!!

I rolled with it.  Had it at age 44.  Been a few yrs now still nice but still limp.  Had to give up skiing.

Better with no pain in hip.  Find a good team.

I applied for and was approved for disability about 4 years ago.  While it doesn't pay much, it is a very important supplement to my income as I have been totally bed ridden by this disease at times.  I work part time now, but the disability is an essential part of my living.

I also work construction and was given the same advice. The medical i was given was about everyday life, ie can you dress yourself, can you do your own shopping. At no time was i asked how I feel an hour or so into a hard day's work. Explain very carefully how you feel most of the time not just on a good day.

Do it now if you have health insurance they will penalise you like me because my income dropped because I worked as long as I could!

I was told to claim for disability after I was diagnosed in February 2017 and I first applied in April 2017 and still to this date I am still waiting for a decision, I first got my claim rejected as I am able to take my medication myself and I have no mental health problems, I have been told to appeal which I have an at the tribunal they had to adjourn it as they didn’t have all my supporting medical evidence they were missing over 200 pages of medical evidence from my consultants, they had only 2 out of the five consultants notes, after waiting 24 weeks for another date which was meant to be on Tuesday last week I turned up to be told they have to cancel it again as they didn’t have no security on the premises, this has now gone on for 15months and I physically can’t work while still very ill with this and having treatment every 2 weeks, and on lots of medication but I will continue to fight for this to help while I get back or as steady as I can be to being myself, I have been told that I need to write to my local mp and write to dwp as this should not been going on for this long!! I find it hard to accept that it took me nearly 3 years to be diagnosed by a specialist which I am under dr David Jayne at addenbrooks hospital, but a local nurse that doesn’t understand the disease or how we feel from day to day can decide if you are entitled to disability or not, I have been told my a number of doctors that they know very little about this disease compared to others and majority have only ever known it in case study books etc, I hope you get what you are hoping for that can help you
