Discitis......Anybody else struggling with a diagnosis.

My Wife is struggling with Discitis, diagnosed by 2 MRI scans and an X Ray, and numerous blood tests, she has been on 2 rounds of IV antibiotics, once in hospital, a break of approx. a month and a course of 6 weeks IV at home. Her infection levels are in single figures having been as high as 170

The major problem we are experiencing is the lump on her upper back that is very painful and makes walking an almost impossibility.

Has anybody else experienced similar symptoms ? We just get told once the infection has gone everything will return to normal, and we presume the lump will go down, a week before her last IV treatment is due, the pain is unbearable, so living on a diet of morphine and Diazapam is not ideal and the frustration is beginning to wear on my Wifes state of mind.

Any opinions are gratefully welcome.
