    Hi

I had exactly what you described and the doctor ended up prescribing a similar drug to me which worked for a bit but then wore off. In the end the dose I needed was giving me palpitations!

But I have had some success since through some self help measures. I wonder if infact I ever did have thrush. I noticed that when I had a particularly bad flare up down below it was accompanied or followed shortly by lower back ache. I've since discovered by googling that some people think vulvodynia (which is what it sounds like you have) is related in some cases to the nerves that run through the pelvis being tight/squeezed. How's your back? Does the itching/soreness get better when you are laying down? Does it get worse with stress?

So if it's the same for you. Here's some stuff I have done. I still get the odd flare up but I can now wear skinny jeans and got my life back:

Don't use fabric conditioner on your underwear. If your nerves are sensitive this will drive them mad.

Wash your hair separately to your body. Don't get soap down there!

Get some physiology on your back. I saw a lady who specialises in a system called body stress release. It's a bit 'alternative ' and I'm quite sceptical but it has worked for me.

    Good luck

Ive always thought its been yeast related i even went on the ''Candida diet'' but couldnt really tell the diffrence maybe i could be allergic to some foods ? but my dermatologist said that wasnt it, but now that you mention it my lower back sometimes does hurt, once in a while though.

The itching seems to calm down if im sitting.

When im in bed at night the itch is much worse.I actually dont even use soap down there only water (for the same reason).I also heard acupuncutre helps as well

I hope the doxepin works for me im only 19 and just wana have fun and be myself again thank you!

There's so many things it could be that the best advice I can give you is to pester the doctors. Don't let them fob you off. I saw 7 doctors and 2 specialists before I saw any progress and I'm nearly 40. If you are young you will need to stand up for yourself. It's trial and error for them with all the different creams and stuff. See different doctors and don't think that you'll have to 'live with it'. You don't and I know that if you keep pushing someone will have the answer. X

Have you gone to a gynecologist? Your symptoms could also be lichen sclerosus or lichen planus. I had very similar symptoms which were driving me crazy. I thought it was a yeast infection but the typical over the counter treatments didn't help. I had severe itching so bad I couldn't sleep and a rediculous amount of discharge. My general practitioner could figure it out. All lab tests came back normal.

I went to to a gynecologist and he diagnosed it as lichen planus. I also saw a dermatologist and he thinks it is lichen sclerosus. I was prescribed steroid creams which do help reduce the redness and itching but you can't use that everyday long term, only for flare ups.

What I do that has really helped is take baths with Epsom salt morning and night. When it was really bad I took baths three times a day. When it calms down just a few times a week is good once a day. I also started on a Paleo diet and specifically the autoimmune protocol diet (AIP). AIP is a restrictive diet which removes all foods that might trigger your condition. After a few months you start adding foods back in one at a time testing your reaction to them. For the most part I have found overly processed foods with lots of additives are bad for me as well as foods in the night shade category.

I also found that that using coconut oil as a moisturizer helps my vulvar/vagina. A hemp salve is also quite helpful. The diet change and Epsom salt baths are the most help but all of these together have worked.
