I am on 150mg Dosulepin (new name for drug) and I don't find any ill effects from drinking alcohol (hic!) - it advises against drinking on the literature, but then most drugs do these days. I think that the only real effect is just that it increases the sedation effect, which obviously might cause problems the next day. I take my medication at night - and I am perfectly clear-headed the next day on waking! I'm sure any GP would advise against drinking completely but I've never been one to follow medical advice. Perhaps just stick to less alcohol to begin with and see how it goes!

As Katie says, most medicines these days say to avoid alcohol. Personally, I think it's just a way of the manufacturers covering themselves.
