Enlarged Spleen

Hi, I had an iliostomy and fistula due to a severe C Difficile infection in 2007 which was reversed in 2009, but left me with a coke can and a half of bowel (my Consultant's description.) Everything has been good until recently when I began to have tenderness under my left rib. I Ifound it hurts to sleep on that side, it feels like I am lying on something. I also began to get reflux and upper back pain, I do bruise easily I think, but apart from that am fine. I saw a Nurse who took a blood test and did an examination, I have just seen my results and I have a low volume platelet count, but the other blood results seem fine. From reading up on everything it strongly suggests I have an enlarged spleen. I am waiting to hear from a doctor, but am worried. I just wondered if anyone could tell me if a problem with my colon could cause an enlarged spleen? Has anyone had similar?
