Esomeprazole and constipation

Has anyone experienced constipation when taking this PPI. i have been taking that and Lansoprozil for many months. my husband was recently prescribed Esomeprazol and complained.. I put two and two together and realised that was my problem. my husband stopped taking these tablets and his problem disappeared but gerd came back. i stopped them as well and as sell as acid I felt really ill. i wonder if anyone has any advice for us both. I would love it if we could find alternative to this medication. I might add we are both in our eighties.
