FIT for rectal bleeding

hi everyone

I am a 39 year old male. I have been to the doctors this morning regarding bleeding when in the toilet. it stains the toilet water red. I am aware that I have hemorrhoids and also have diverticulosis.

A similar thing happened in 2020 and I was given a FIT test. It came back positive and I had a colonoscopy. this revealed internal hemorrhoids and diverticulosis but nothing sinister.

Fast forward to today and I have the same thing. The doctor said it is likely a combination of my hemorrhoids and a flare up on diverticulosis caused by the stress of a recent bereavement.

however, he had also given me a FIT test to do. I am convinced this is going to come up positive because of my bleeding hemorrhoids and thus result in another colonoscopy less than 3 years after the last one. I thought a clear colonoscopy was good for 5-10 years.

it just seems like I am going to do this and already know the outcome but the doctor wants me to do it anyway.

anyone had a similar issue or any advice?
