Well I telephoned the secretary of my husbands specialist and finally was admitted into hospital Tuesday 13/10 his legs were still very red and sore and he also had swollen hands and stomach and was very breathless. The doctors at the hospital now think its all due to a bad reaction to Oramorph which I had mentioned to the doctors surgery just a few days after he started taking Oramorph and his legs had just gone very red and swollen and was told it was nothing to do with Oramorph, now I am completely confused the hospital have taken him off Oramorph and the slow release morphine tablets he was on , so we will see what the next chapter will be.

I'm so sorry Karen for what you and your husband are having to go through right now. It's a shame the position did not listen to you in the beginning when your husband was suffering side effects from the medication. All too often we have to continue to call and badger the physician in order to get done what needs to be done. I will continue to pray for you both!

Thankyou so much for your reply. I am not medically trained but I know my husband well I should do we have been married for 36 years, I was angry because nobody would listen the comment I got was swollen legs are common in your husband. We had the same with my mother-in-law the week before, our daughter is her main carer and I was going round at night to give my daughter a break and had to phone the NHS line 3 times and they wouldnt listen her blood sugars were at 6 which is no good for mum they finally agreed to take her into hospital and they found her kidneys were packing in. IM just grateful that we moved back into town as we lived in the country with very little transport and what we had kept letting us down its been a hell of a year but hey we are still here fighting. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers .

Hang in there Karen! It can truly be frustrating working through the system of medical care no matter where you live. We have to advocate for our loved ones and persevere especially when they are not improving or even getting worse. I know your family appreciates all you are and your daughter are doing for them. Hang in there and fight the good fight!
