Four month tramadol withdrawal.. now need surgery

hi there,

I am four months off of tramadol, I was on it for 3 years. This is my third time withdrawing from about 300mg daily and by far the worst. Panic attacks, anxiety, internal shaking, depression, insomnia, fatigue ect.. I have come this far and have no desire to ever take that poison again.

My next big issue is I am having surgery at the end of this month. I will need to take pain meds for at least a week. Since im still in tramadol withdrawal will this set me back? progress is so slow, I cant afford to be set back. I did call and speak to someone at the pharmacy, they said its the ssri withdrawal of the tramadol and i will be fine with short term pain meds after surgery.

Has anyone had experience or advice?
