Hi l have been reading some of your remarks or experiences of frozen shoulder . Last July 2016 l had a fall and shattered my wrist abroad. The hospital manipulated it until l got back.home to England whereby l had an operation to fix it.sixteen months later l still have limited movement in my wrist and fingers. They are still quite stiff .I have had physio that stopped in June.l go swimming in the brine baths which does help. Then in July l had another fall breaking my shoulder in February went to see my specialist he wants me to have manipulation on my shoulder l am visiting him this Friday 23rd December .l just feel at a standstill as to decide what to do.? I would be grateful of any advice or someone who has been I my shoes l know it's up to me in the end.I have been through a lot in the last 18 months l just wanted to know is it worth going through this?

I had the capsular release and mua 3 weeks ago today! I have a great pt guy! I started with a different co and they were no good ! This guy pushed me to do things I never thought I could do 2 weeks after surgery he had me doing push ups an weights it really shocked mt body to just get better! He said if you put it in survival mode it can do it now I do lots of weights and exercises! He just stretches me one time each direction then gets me in gym! Great week for me!

Hi Allison, how are you doing now, do you have any external rotation? I am 6-weeks postop, and still having a tonne of pain day and night. The dr measured me at 40 degrees external but with incredible pain. He said to keep at it for another 6 weeks but it's frustrating!

Hi, I'm doing good still pain but I still think it's better then before surgery! I took the week off pt so need to get back at it this week! But it's a lot less painful if I don't do the pt! But I don't want to go back so I'm going to work hard for another month! I have ok rom just hurts still to put my hand straight up and I don't quite have the middle to raise it on my own getting close! Are you working out pretty hard? I think my pt making work out pretty hard helped a lot but it was painful! I do 11/2 hours of weights and gym workout stuff when I go to pt!

Hi Allison, yes, I am working out pretty hard, but I am focused mostly on stretching, rather than strength training. I do a pile of different stretches both standing on lying on the floor 2-3 times a day (it takes 45mins-1hour each time). I do some theraband exercises for strengthening and I go swimming/hot tub. I am still in a lot of pain.... I am 7.5 weeks now so getting pretty annoyed. If you can't raise your arm up overhead it sounds like you are weak so once your strength returns you should be ok. I recommend walking your fingers up the wall as high as you can, and then lift off the wall. if you cant lift off, lower your arms down the wall until you can lift off without pain. Do this many times a day and eventually you will be able to lift off with your arm straight up the wall. What is your age? I am 41.... I know that as we get older these kinds of injuries are harder to get over!!! I guess we have to hang in there.  Can you wash your hair without pain yet?

Hi thanks for the update! I can wash my hair but not without pain! Everything overhead is still painful! I have been a little lazy with my stretches over the holidays just feels good to take a break from pain after a year but I know I got to keep at it! It's just once I do my exercises pretty much means pain for rest of day! But still nothing like when I had FS! I am so glad I did the surgery in only six weeks and feel so much better then before surgery! I have most of my life back! I actually like going out and doing things again! Yep we just have to hang in there and march through it I think we r lucky that we got the option of surgery! There is no doubt in my mind that I would still be suffering with no rom if I had not done it! I go back to work in a couple weeks! I'm ready to put FS behind me! Yay keep up your stretches I'm sure you are nearing the end too!

Hi Alison that sounds great how old are you if you don't mind me asking . I am65 and have been told by a lady l know that she went under anesthetic and to have manipulation and when she came round they had broken her shoulder if you can understand l don't want that to happen as l already have had two breaks it makes you very wary. I am doing ok and have to see my specialist today. Thank you for your Input merry Xmas and a happy new year.

Hi ya I have heard that I looked my dr in the eye and asked him flat out if he had ever broken anyone's arm he said no! He told me that they have multiple people in room to hold scapula still why they move it but I also had the release to free it before they manipulated it so I only had a little bruising and of course to sets if little stitches from the release! If I thought I could have waited it out I would have my pain was excruiciating and I was getting really depressed I'm not to good at waiting!

What was broken in your shoulder and did it break through the joint. Fractures cause stiff shoulders but not frozen shoulders.

Hi frozen stiff l am not sure about that all l know my specialist wanted to know if l had considered manipulation l have and have decided against it at the moment l am going to continue with my exercises swimming etc l cook clean and iron now even putting ironing board up which l couldn't do 12 months ago bear in mind l smashed my wrist 18 months ago then fell and broke top of my arm last February. I have to see my specialist in six months time .He will then probably discharge me .He did say if l had it manipulated it would only quicken up the healing process the the outcome would be the same .range of movement he was talking about so at the end of the day it's up to me and to be honest l don't want to go through all the pain again at this stage . We will see how l feel in 6 months .
