Generic carbimazole

My Neo Mercazole has been changed by my pharmacist to a generic form of Carbimazole and I have been having more palpitations on this new medication.Has anyone else had this problem.I know that they are supposed to have the same quality but I certainly don't feel that they work as well.

    Hello Nonita,

I have been on Carbimazole, not sure if it's the generic one though?!  for about 3 years now, with just one break of 6 weeks when my Thyroid Gland behaved!!  I did have these feelings then, the GP said it is probably because I was taken off Carbimazole?! Unfortunately had to go back on them and am still on them, I have been having some funny and quite frightening heart problems, I am now waiting for an appointment to come through to see a heart specialist, my GP said it could be something called Ventricle Ectopic, the feelings are a bit like palpatations, but, a lot worse! my heart thumps and stops and starts with a realy thump! It will beat about 5 to 11 times, then stop! thank God it starts up again!  It is very scary!  It's been happening for about 6 weeks now, had to come back from a holiday I was so scared!  I just hope it isn't the medication that's caused this, I, like many of us, have to stay on Carbimazole for the rest of my life!!

I don't wish to frighten you Nonita, I hope I haven't, just thought I should say how I'm feeling, when I saw this from you, it rang a  bell with me...

I think it would be best if you go to your GP and explain how you feel, he/she should be able to help you, I hope so anyway.

We do seem to have some strange things going on sometimes don't we?

Please take care and I wish you well.

     Love,

     Chrissie.

Hi catsmother.thanks very much for your reply. Your symptoms are very similar to the ones that I am feeling.I have made an appointment to see my Doctor this afternoon.Hopefully he will change my tablets back to the original ones and then I can see if these palpitations go away. I hope you get an answer to your problems when you see your specialist. Best Wishes,Nonita
