Hey everyone

i am newish to Gerd, was diagnosed 6 weeks ago only and never had issues before that...thankfully. Ive had bad health anxiety for 8 months and its led to this moment.

i had endoscopy in december and there was zero wrong...not even smallest thing.

i am taking ppi's bt still have issues daily.

I have a sensation always in my throat that i have phlem there and its very frustrating which i knw makes it worse...bt hey; im human...frustration is natural

i have hopes to overcome evrrything, i am only 29 years old, blood tests frm last week showed i have good health, all blood tests i cud ask for i got to help with my anxiety.

I would love some advice of how to stop stressing over GERD and hw to accept living with it. I have a positive outlook that it means i have to lice a healthier lifestyle bt find i allow my anxiety to get the better of me. Any advices for suffering with GERD AND GLOBUS? i did not need any tests according to my doc and throat specialist, both very confident its gerd and globus.

Thanks guys

That's difficult, especially when GERD is made up of the oddest symptoms. I would suggest that you simply take your meds as you should and maintain a healthy diet. If this does not work you'll have to go back to your doctor. Nothing has worked for me so far and tbh I'm not sure anything would but I'm not giving up. Going to see a homeopathic doctor at the end of this month and hope that he can help me. Best of luck to you.

Well if the endscopy shows nothing that is GOOD NEWS so no need to stress over that

Often we make ourselves worse by worrying about things that are not there. I struggled with gerd for 20 yrs until a GP diagnosed my condition, put me on a PPI and now life is wonderful HOWEVER, there is a learning curve and I suspect you are going through that now.

First of all the PPI isn't a fix all drug, you have to do your bit and also you have to find the right dose and sometimes drug. I was lucky, put on lanzoprosole straight away and it works for me. Initial dose was 15 didn't work, dr put me up to 30 great.

I also have to watch what I eat otherwise I can trigger it and its important to eat regularly, little and often I was told otherwise you aggrevate it. As you can see many options but I would start by looking at your lifestyle and diet, I don't eat acidic foods,  only one fizzy drink and watch spicy stuff, best of luck

I personally find that Ginger Ale helps.       I also like the Ginger Ale with a drop of whisky , dont tell anyone though.     Occasionally it does no harm.   A bit of what you fancy does you good.

You are so young (I am nearly 70) to suffer from this,   I am beginning to wonder what on earth it is that is making us all so poorly.    Is it all of these additives in our food,  there has to be some reason.

Try not to worry.     I am a born worrier and I am a fine one to talk.

That's hectic. I can't even handle anything fizzy. I'm also 27 going on 28 and had acid reflux for nearly a year. You could be right. Maybe it is the additives in our food. But then if it is what do we do and how do we eat from now on? I'm already considering homeopathy and if this doesn't work then fundiplication. My stomach and chest hurts everyday and the 30mg lansaprazole given to me does nothing but make me feel worse. It definitely could be something in the food but then what do we do with regards to that?

Dixie ,Im with you in what you've said ,Ginger beer ,Id rather take that than any med ,which can and does end up giving you more troubles ,but minus the whiskey ,( teetotal ) but if it helps go for it .

I'm your age given couple years ,stress and meds anyone's on will bring this about ,I've only had it for couple yrs ,put it down to Losartan BP med ,it's on the leaflet. I checked .

You've noticed the illness that's out there ,me to .Foods being sprayed ,then fed to humans and animals .Thats my thinking ,has been now for past 10 yrs ,gut feeling .Got to watch what we eat and drink ,and keep eye on any meds drs and over the counter .

I am 30 years old and I suffer from the same issue. The feeling of something stuck in my throat makes my life miserable. I have had Gerd since a while but the globes sensation started almost one year ago. I wonder whether one day I will live a normal life without this feeling as the ppi does reduce the acid secretion but has no effect on the symptoms. I tried almost everything and it seems it won't go away easily. I want to ask those who have gerd and globus, will the symptoms disappear upon the long use of ppi? I wish u all get better soon

Hi and i know the feeling ! My troubles started approx 10 mths ago, Ive had 2 times scope with different doctors as after the first test i still had the choking sensation and desperatley wanted a second opinion. I have reflux and have tried all remedies so far, from slippery elm and apple cider vinegar, licorice, peppermints etc.... and then the medical remedies such as somac, nexium, gaviscon , all without any positive outcome. The PPI's setteled the reflux somewhat but the globus sensation has never gone away. I have tried a gluten free & Lactose free diet for 6 months , and also not much of a difference, to be honest i have not had a single day relief from the choking sensation. The swallowing got to the point that i panicked on and off and even spent some days at the ER. I have had a BA Swallow done last week and everthing has come back perfectly normal. It was only yesterday that i have had a consult with my doc and have finally received information how to handle and treat this condition. He has given me a light anti deppresant to treat the muscle and nervs in the oseaphagus. This has been explained to me. Globus sensation is actually a nerv in the muscle which misfires to the stomach, it sends out signals to "cramp" up the oesophagus and it pushes the acid upwards instead of downwards, which makes alot of sense. At night time while asleep the acid can be pushed up to the back of the throat and actually cause some damage in that region, when i awake in the mornings i have an immediate lump in the throat and thought it had something to do with pressure, but its the acid that has built up overnight and even feels like a gurgling crackling sensation at times, this  is the gas which gets pushed up with the acid. My doc recommends to take a quarter of the anti depress ONLY at night time to relax the muscle and nerv and he a pretty convinced that this will help after a short time , at least to minimise the constant swallowing and choking sensation. Sure i still need to watch my diet and take somac to reduce the reflux. Due to swallowing more frequently the globus sensation gets more severe, my advise is to try and not swallow too much , i know it sounds easy , but with a little praxis it really works, I have promised to share this experience once i have found a solution or remedie which could make living with it easier , as i have suffered so much with this reflux and hope i can help anyone with this information. Sorry for the long story   i hope this helps

    thanks for reading
