Gerd/Barrett's

Hi I have now been officially diognosed with Barrett's c5m3 ( I double checked that is the right way round lol) I've been taking different ppi's for months now all seem to make me feel pretty rubbish (I've never been great with meds) my consultant has now referred me to a oesophagus specialist in London . I was just wondering do you usually get given the option of surgery rather than the medication if so what do people advise. ( I am using private health care not nhs)

I think they would more than likely presrible med for a period, rather than surgery at this stage, but it looks like you will get good advice as to your next steps.

Yes Sarah i have been diagnosed with Barretts and a hiatus hernia and i have been put on meds.  No doctor has even talked to me or told me about the option of an operation. I think you have to ask them for an op if that is how you wish to proceed.
