Getting snipped on the 28th, vacation on the 1st.

Hello all. I'm  soon scheduled to have my vasectomy done for the second time. Last one was 14 years ago but failed and had another child as a result. I can't remember how much time my recover was but like an idiot i went to a home show and walked around all day long and remember having swollen testies for a bit.

My scheduled date is 9/28 and decided to extend my vacation and take a trip to Cancun on the 1st. My plan is to not do anything but lay around iceing and adding antbotic ointment to speed up the healing. When we get to the resort, my plan there is too just relax, eat and go swimming in the pools and the ocean. No excursions are planned, just staying at the resort. My question is, Can i go in the water after 4 days of rest? This trip will be a bust if I cant get in water? Unfortunately we will lose alot of money if cancelled. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

You need quite a few days off total minimal activity, not quite bed rest but close enough

You ideally should only shower lightly in that area to keep clean only and to minimize infection

Swimming pool should be avoided until wound has totally healed due to risk of infection

If you want to keep holiday cancel vasectomy otherwise you risk pain and infection

A repeat vasectomy can be tougher for the surgeon, which means more recovery time for you. I would tell you that getting in the water 4 days out is ok, but you should ask your surgeon before AND after he completes the procedure

Thanks, I'm going to call the doctor this week and ask for his opinion.

Bit late now, but only if wound healed up properly. Mine was wide open for at least 4 weeks.
