How long after diagnosis did you get an ablation?

If you had an ablation for SVT, how long after your first episode/after diagnosis did you get an ablation? I have had the condition my whole life (with more frequent episodes over the last few years), but have never been a candidate for ablation. Just wondering if it is something I should pursue further.

Why are you not a candidate for an ablation?

In a nutshell: was treated by a pediatric cardiologist from birth - age 18 who had more a "if it's not bothering you, no need to do anything about it" approach. (I also think that the ablation was a less common procedure back then.) When I finally saw an adult cardiologist more recently, I was urgently referred to an EP for ablation, but after consultation with the EP, he basically said the ablation wasn't worth the risk of possibly damaging the non-affected areas. This is why I've been left baffled and have been considering getting a second opinion!
