How much time elapses between inhaling and oxygen reaching heart?

I suffer from a toxic gas that is ubiquitous in the environment. When this gas enters my respiratory tract, many times I feel it digging into my heart tissue without feeling any major sensations in my lungs. This occurs almost immediately upon air entering my throat and lungs. I have been diagnosed with COPD and have heart palpitations every day.
