IBS & Haemachromatosis

I have both IBS and haemachromatosis - my Doctor (via a telephone consultation) dismissed my ferritin levels as "not too bad" which, at 241, I recognise is at the lower end of the scale.

However, on reading about IBS, this can lower your ferritin levels because of malabsorption of nutrients, etc. in the bowel. So, my question is, has anyone found that when their IBS (Crohn's disease, Colitis, etc) is managed properly, their ferritin levels increase?
