Is deep muscle and joint massage not advisable?

Had DVT about 2 years ago (thigh and calf) and treating with Edoxaban anticoagulant as regular therapy. I’m wondering if I might try some deep muscle massage to help prevent/reduce post thrombotic syndrome (PTS). My foot and leg is often painful. I know about a local NHS registered physio who specialises in quite aggressive massage of muscle and joints for sports type of injuries and for fibromyalgia etc. This “hurts” quite a lot at the time but several of her patients have had remarkable benefit from the treatment.

My question is: are my veins too damaged and the valves probably not functioning properly enough to take deep massage? I’d be quite happy to undertake this uncomfortable therapy if it would be of benefit. Has anyone tried it? Or would you not advise it as being too risky?

Cheers
