Just been advised that a Gamma GT taken 7months ago was high?

Hi

I am new here.

I saw a GP last Friday about stomach issues where he thinks it could be IBS but just wanted to check on the last bloods I had taken at the surgery. He asked if I drink a lot of alcohol. I drink just about the safe limit but more at xmas and occasions but do make sure I have at least 2 months off per year.

He told me that bloods taken in January this year showed a high Gamma GT so took some bloods there and then and said he would let me know if the Gamma GT came back high. I hadn't drank any alcohol in the 3 weeks prior to the test and still haven't.

I've not heard anything but am a bit concerned and wonder if the Jan results could have been missed or did they just think it wasn't high enough to tell me.

I had bloods taken at a private hospital for a pre-op 4 weeks ago and they didn't tell me the results either.

Does your GP need to tell you if your Gamma GT result is high?

Thanks

Sharon
