i am about 8 months into my frozen shoulder. i have had a cortizone injection which made it worse so i am now living on painkillers. i have limited use of my right arm.

Just want to know will the pain ever go and will i have full use of it after the 2 years?

I was talking to someone who had said she had had a frozen shoulder years ago and she was practically throwing her arm around her should now and said it was fine . dont think i will ever be like that ;(

    Hi

I feel your pain. Both shoulders started with mild pain in March. Had ultrasound and bursitis showed in right shoulder so GP assumed left shoulder was the same but didn't show on ultrasound. Pain worsened in left shoulder affected upper arm movement so I was given 2 steroid injections, like you , it made pain worse. Recently had Mri of left shoulder and awaiting results. I have worn discs in neck and have asked if this is the cause but my go insists they would not cause this impingement radiographer reckons it would so waiting in agony with no sleep

Cortisone didn't work for me either. I've had fs on both my shoulders. Lucky man. First time I just sweated it out with painkillers and physio for about 18 months. The recent time I had capsular release surgery. Brilliant. The gut wrenching pain when you knock your arm went. Physio for a couple of months. Now fully functional. Everyone will say different things for different people. It will get better by itself but it may take a couple of years. My advice for what it's worth is see a consultant. Good luck

I'm at about the same space you are belinda and it does begin to go away. I tried the cortisone early on twice with no rellief so that was really discouraging. I know over the last couple weeks I have begun to be able to manage more during the day but the nights are still really hard. My doctor said just plan for 12-24 months which tells me he's never had the condition ;0) Even 12 months seems like forever after 8 months. I can say though that recently there's a shift happening and I hope it will happen for you soon also. I found someone who specializes in deep tissue and hot stone therapuetic massage and I think that's what has helped me turn the corner. Good luck to you and know that you are not alone or crazy!!

Belinda, I am only 21/2 months in and they keep telling me 1-2 years! It seems like forever to me super depressing! I think I will try the surgery at around the six month stage? Not sure if I will try the cortisone! I already did the oral steroids no help! I do pt 3 times a week and have a dynasplint that is literally a torture chamber that tries to help with external movement! But it is crazy painful! I think my dr is just being super aggressive as we caught it so early! I feel so horrible for everone going through this! No one can understand the nightmare of it unless they have done it themselves! Good luck to you but I would def consider the surgery I have read mainly good things? What about mua?

My specialist told me tht if the cortisone is not injected in the correct location then it won't give u relief...maybe you should have a second opinion..as to me the cortisone helped to take the edge of the excruciating pain..till it subsided to where I only experience pain when I do sudden movement or bump my shoulder by accident and using my arm too muchard..hope this information helps..and ur pain subsides soon

    Hi Belinda

I'm in my 8th of FS . The pain has subsided a lot. You have to let your shoulder rest if in pain and ice a lot several times a day. It's the inflammation that causes a lot of the pain. Be patient and don't use your arm if in pain. I learned after many weeks. I'm still not able to move my arm very high or touch the back of me. It's a very slow process. But it is better.
