LOL I'm unique in my area. Anyone else have this?

I went to see the surgeon on Monday after a referral from a specialist. I had a MRI scan done a few weeks earlier as I'd been having injections to manage achilles tendonitis in both ankles and this just about kept the pain away. Anyway I had a fall and tore my achilles Utter agony), hence the MRI.

Well the surgeon say's he's never seen anyone like my problems....lol. I have a rupture at my ankle and a complete tear where my muscle joins the tendon causing a 2cm gap. The surgeon ended up calling in 2 colleagues to come and see me as he was amazed and perplexed.

All 3 have said the want to be in the O R when I get my date as my op will be bespoke and they want to learn from it.

They are taking a tendon from my toe and getting another 1 from somewhere else (I didn't ask where) as they need a longer bit, They are going to have to do a bridging bit between both bits.

I'm happy the 3 surgeons will be there but I'm also not happy as they think It'll be 50-50 if It works as they don't really know what they'll be faced with.

Anyone else been different?

How long did you have off work after normal repair surgery please?

Any way to find someone, as a second opinion, who has seen and worked on someone with this situation before? I hope they can figure it out if they haven't dealt with this before. You can't be the only one ever I would think. Where are you located? In the US?

Hello Patti123. I live in the UK. The surgeons said they were going to go away and do some reasearch.

Wishing you the best of luck. It must be very scary when they say they haven't seen anyone with this before in your area. I hope someone can help you who has experience with this. I am sure you are not alone. I hope someone here can help you.
