Long term bowel movements.

I had an extended right hemicolectomy just over nine years ago and my gall bladder removed about five years ago. I was told to expect 'variable' bowel movements but does this go on forever? i can't safely leave the house until I've had three or four movements in the morning, sometimes with some urgency. The first one is reasonably solid. I'm guessing that is because my remaining bowel is working and the rest waits for a way out. I drink a fibre supplement daily and eat normally. Just curious.
