Loud nose breathing when sleeping

For about a year now, as soon as I fall asleep, my breathing becomes about ten times louder to the point where it consistently disturbs my partner's sleep. Before this, my partner says I used to breathe so quietly he'd sometimes worry I wasn't breathing at all (which was not the case). It's not snoring, it's just like I'm breathing really heavily through my nose. I don't have any problems with breathing loudly in the daytime - this only happens at night.

I don't believe it is sleep apnoea as I'm in my 20s, not overweight, and I don't stop breathing throughout the night.

I had a phone appointment with the doctor and to be honest he spoke to me as if he was baffled as to why I was even treating this as a medical issue and prescribed me beconaise steroid nose spray which I used for a month and it made no difference.

Kind of at a loss for what to do at this point because it's really disturbing mine and my partner's sleep. If anyone has any advice or has any idea what could be causing it that would be amazing!!
