Lupus symptoms?? please i need some input.

Hello everyone,

i am desperate trying to figure out what is really wrong with me.  I have a lot of symptoms that seem to point to lupus or MS.  I know those 2 can overlap.

I started with skin changes my face looks like i have rosacea and acne, which i have never had before.  some days more than others.  Along with that came super dry scaly eyelids and face, and dry scaly ears and scalp.  My hair is also turning super dry.

Then i got this weak feeling in my lower back and left leg.  I get bad back pain especially lower back.  Also my muscles are super tense and sometimes mild muscle pain.  All of this along with crazy horrible fatigue, some muscle twitching and recently im super sensitive to light and my eyes feel inflamed and very wet especially when i wake up.

I also started having bad brain fog and feeling depressed due to all of this going on.  Last night i tried to stretch a bit and shortly after i had elbow and knee pain.

I have been to doc and ANA was weakly positive but he tested another strand and said that was negative.  i have an appt. with a rheumatologist in about a week and also a neurologist .  Just wanted to hear from anyone who is experiencing lupus and find out what your input is.

thanks and sorry for the long post.

thanks for your response Rachel.  Im sorry about your diagnosis and hope you are feeling good and getting through it.  i have a brain scan monday and i guess that will give me some input depending if they find lesions on my brain.  Can you tell me what the MS symptoms feel like?  i think they seem pretty similar.  I have not had any actual numbness or pins and needles but i have major fatigue and muscle twitching which i attribute to possibly MS and also my vision issues.  sometimes really tired eyes and some eye pain but not major. thanks!

i have to add most of my muscle twitching happens if i am sitting down.  When i am up and walking it is usually not a big issue.  I get it in my legs, have felt in my eyes and hand and sometimes even stomach.  I have not actually had any painful spams or anything like that.  Just annoying twitching.

Yes FATIQUE is MS also, but Fatique is number one in Lupus. Joint pain,Fatique, memory, speech problems, brain fog, pins and needles. I have a POSITIVE ANA and MRI shows brain lesions , my sister died of MS,Mother died brain tumor, Grandmother had Lupus she passed and my 23 year old son has brain cyst with Aspergers, so its HIGHLY in my family.

wow im sorry to hear that.  im super scared and nervous about my scan but i have to know at this point.  I have no history of MS or lupus in my family so its weird to think i will have these, although i know genetics doesnt always mean you will or will not get it.

Hope you get answers soon. Unfortunately it can take time to get the correct diagnosis. I was misdiagnosed and received the wrong treatment so can't stress the importance of them getting it right. Not that I wanted Lupus but now I know what I'm dealing with.

Keeping a lot of symptoms, occurrence, photos (rashes/skin changes) helps the Specialists to build up the history. Blood tests alone don't always give the full story. Fingers crossed they give you answers soon.

thanks for your response.  Its definitely a long road.  I just want to feel normal or be normal again.  Rule out everything medical.  My gut tells me there is something off with my body.  I was attributing it to maybe anxiety and depression but now im starting to think it has to be an underlying issue here.
