Microdisectomy and returning to normal?

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hi all,

I have a slipped disc leaning on my bowel/bladder nerve along with spinal stenosis. I am having a lumbar microdisectomy on 6th June and 4 weeks, 4 days later, I have a music/dance festival that was booked months prior to knowing the op date.

Does anyone know if I will be ok to go to this festival still or would it be better to cancel instead?

Would also appreciate any stories on recovery process to see what I should be expecting.

Many thanks in advance!

Hi there. I had severe compression of my L4-L5 nerve that left me crippled in my right leg. My symptoms started just before Christmas. I had a microdiscetomy in January 2022 and am now more than 6 months post op. Best decision I've ever made. Although I am able to walk again, I still do get some sciatic pain and numbness in my right leg. My back pain has totally resolved but does feel stiff when I wake up in the morning. Of importance is that I have been seeing a physio and am doing core exercises a lot . I started core training 6 weeks post op and started during endurance walking as well. My only concern is that i get some numbness/pain in my left leg at times. Not sure how to interpret that. All in all I really started feeling good after the 4 months mark. Hope my experiences helps in your recovery

    Regards
