My back muscles feel sun burnt - only way to describe it

Hi,

I've been experiencing back pain for years but it's gotten so bad over the past 6 months. All of my back muscles feel like they're sun burnt. I can't describe it any other way. I'm on Tylenol 3 but it barely helps. I've seen a rheumatologist and he says I don't have any auto-immune diseases. I'm waiting to see a physiatrist and also to get an MRI. Has anyone had similar symptoms?
