Neck and shoulder pain!!

hi im wondering if someone could put me at ease. Ive had neck and shoulder pain for about 2 months now. my neck hurts when i tilt it to the left and right and it hurt when i bend it forward which also hurts down my back and chest. I went to the doctor and they put it down to tension, said i was carryint alot on my shoulders. My neck does feel tight but this is every day for 2 months and is now starting to scare me! its always worse in the morning too.
