Nurse missed one suture, now it's ingrown

Hi, my partner had a pilonidal sinus removal (Karydakys) surgery just over a month ago. The stitches came out around 10 days ago, however last night I discovered that the nurse missed one suture. It has now become ingrown into the wound overnight and no longer visible or accessible. Can it be left in the body or does it need to be surgically removed? We want to avoid another procedure as it might cause reoccurance of the abcess. Can't find any advice online. Please help.
