Oesophageal cancer..anyone had it ?

Hi all. I had oesophageal cancer 5yrs ago and had been good until recently.. still getting acid reflux and I've had an endoscopy in May which showed nothing but I'm panicking there's something wrong..my food goes thro to fast and doesn't get absorbed so I take tabs for that.but I feel like I'm going backwards ..anyone got any advice please

    It depends on what treatment or surgery you had.   The Oesophageal Patients Association have a website and a helpline 0121 704 9860.   If you had an oesophagectomy, the food can run through quickly and lead to absorption problems.   There are some factsheets that might help regarding diet as well on the website.

    I did have an oesphagetomy..and I have a real absorption problem. I just don't no how to stop this acid reflux and the pain in my gut when I eat. I take creon which helped but now I'm having to double the dose . I will look on the website..thank you for your reply ..

      You might need to see a gastroenterologist experienced with patients who have had an oesophagectomy.   the Clinical Nurse Specialist may be able to help with a referral.

    I am in contact with my oncologist nurse and she thinks its just an absorption problem hence the increase in creon again.. it just makes you panic a bit seeing as things were settling now there up in the air... hopefully just a blip tho… thanks for your reply

    hi can you tell me if u had swallowing difficulties & muscle weakness in throat & was always clearing ur throat ? i have bad reflux & often sick too!.
