Oestrogen?

Hi - just wondering if anyone shares this experience? I was diagnosed with LS 7months ago and the club has certainly helped - use it approx weekly at the moment. I was with my GP a couple months ago for another matter and told her I was having a flare-up then. Although she's certainly no specialist re vulval issues, she advised me for 3 months to use oestrogen cream x 2 per week into my vagina. I know there's a concern about long term use but I really haven't experienced a flare-up since. But MY LS and discomfort is round the urethra and clitoris - not vagina? I see my hospital specialist in Sept so will discuss with her and in any case need to stop the oestrogen next month. Just wondered if anyone has similar experience?

Hi Mary, l am taking oestrogen at the moment l am taking it to help prevent uti,s l was told by my LS consultant that it helps with LS too. I am coming to the end of a six month period of taking it , this is a recommended safe period to take oestrogen.During this time my LS as been very well behaved , so oestrogen may have played a part ?? Now to see what happens without it ! I hope you have good results x

I have been advised to use the clob twice a week as a preventative measure.  This certainly works most of the time.  The various oestrogen creams/pessaries are just to lubricate the vagina.  They are of no help if the opening isn't big enough in the first place.  So far as I understand it, oestrogen cream is fairly inocuous as very little is absorbed by the blood stream.  Therefore, it doesn't matter if you are on HRT or similar as the dose is so small.

I have been given Vagifem which is an oestrogen pessary to use once a month now (was every night for first month) think the worry is the oral oestrogen rather than local use. It helped me and I also are having symptoms around the urethra.

I'm also on estrogen and progesterone.  I think it makes a difference.
