i was prescribed omeprazole for possible acid reflux causing bronchial spasms.  i cannot describe the hellish experience i had taking it.  after being on it for a week, i began to have nightmarish panic.  i have had anxiety and depression in my life, but this medication took it to another level.  i was having difficulty breathing, bizarre dreams and a total lack of appetite.  this drug is poison!!  stay away from it if you have any kind of mental issues.

    Are you a doctor? Are you a specialist? Do you have any science related degree when you say that this drug is a poison? Do you perhaps know the chemical compounds or maybe you have been testing the drug for 10 + years? If none of the listed then you shouldn't be making such claims because they are dangerous. If you had severe side effects from a drug, this doesn't mean that people who need it, short-term or longterm shouldn't be taking it. You are scaring people but you don't have any credibility whatsoever. You already have anxiety and therefore the drug contributed a little much to your anxiety or maybe you read some stories and your anxiety increased momentarily. Maybe the drug wan't the main culprit at all. People die instantly from poisons (e.g. arsen), some people have been taking this drug 20+ years on a daily basis and haven't died, therefore this drug cannot be a poison. Do you get it?

      Hello i have just stumbled across this forum and i know it is a old post,i had taken omprazole for a few months for acid reflux and hernia which did help but found after time i was experiencing a racing heart, anxiety, confusion and also aching limbs, generally very lethargic, it took me a while to realise that it was the omprazole i was taking, i no longer take this drug as i do consider it to be a very bad drug and i understand that people have taken it for many years and are happy with it but doctors do say this drug is fine and safe to take but docs are not aware of the serious side effects of this medicine and thats why they dish it out like sweeties. Omprazole is a very highly addictive medicine and if you research the side effects they are quite alarming, i am no longer taking this drug and the withdrawls of coming off it is horrible, just google what omprazole contains and active ingredients, good luck to people who do take it but it does state it should not be taken for long periods!

    i have been on omeprazole for months and having bizarre dreams and waking up in a panic, anxiety and depression, difficulty breathing pain in my chest,the doctor said it was anxiety , i did not have any of these syptoms before i started taking omeprazole.

      How long have you been exactly on omeprazole and which dosage have you been on? How old are you
