Osteo diagnosis

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have recently been diagnosed with severe Osteoarthritis which I believe started after a riding accident when I was 17, I am now 61. I have always remained active and work full time at a plant nursery which is a very physical job . over the last 6 months people have been commenting on my posture and the way I walk etc and when I look in the mirror I can see that I am indeed now crooked, I am really upset, embarassed and worried about this, I am assuming that I should carry on struggling with my job as obviously it is important to keep active? I also get extreme pain deep I my hip which the gp says is all connected.

where do you have osteo? hip? reading your description of crooked ? meaning its due to pain in your hip?

seen a hip specialist?of course xray should show the doc how much damage is done to the joint. osteo is a progressive disease it continually gets worse over time til you cannot walk at all. I cant imagine how painful it must be lifting and doing the work at a nursery every day. yikes! i have had both hips replaced due to osteo. i totally get walking crooked and yes it can take a toll on other joints it is all connected.

have you considered hip joint replacement?

it a option that can help improve your quality of life , get your posture back walking straight and improve mobility.

i love gardening . I am a landscape designer and for many years... spring is finally here and blooms are a poppin!

Any chance for physiotherapy? Sounds like you would benefit from some targeted exercises and other treatment which will help balance the strength of various supporting muscles so that your body can be better aligned. You could also google HealthUnlocked where you will find a more active forum including a couple of arthritis communities. Sorry, I'm not allowed to post a link.
