lol....i have probably spelt it wrong...i will check the spelling and get back to you. All i know is that it is an injection that you have to have every day for two years, and that it is meant to increase bone density... it is fairly new.

I have severe osteoporosis and 4 compression in my spine.  Unable to find any medications that agree with me - I am allergic to anti-inflammatories and codeine and most meds contain these.  I have recently had an Aclasta infusion which will strengthen my bones but don't think it will do anything for the compression fractures.  You can have the Aclasta infusion annually, rather than take Fosamax tablets daily.  Have been referred to an orthopaedic specialist, probably take ages before I get an appointment.  Good luck.

I also have osteoporosis but am on HRT, I see no one has mentioned this as a treatment, any reason??? I was on alendronic acid, for 6 mths, and then needed dental treatment where the surgeon said he wouldn't work on me if I was on that, and so went down another route. It's helped, except I can't stand having you know what again, and not sure I want a hysterectomy, just to take HRT

hi naomi..i went through an early menopause [28] and was on hrt for many years and my doc took me off hrt about 10 years ago.. that was whwn the osteoporosis kicked in! When they discovered i had three compression fractures the doc put me on alendronic acid and calcium fractures , i then had to then have all my teeth out because of the osteoporosis and i had to have them extacted at the hospital, because i was taking alendronic! After i did some research on line i asked the doc if i could go back on HRT but my doc said they no longer treated osteoporosis with HRT! I

That is Forteo, I have had it prescribed for me in the US, it is the only FDA medicine proved to grow new bone and out performs the other drugs by alot. Most people have 7-11% increases after 2 years. It is a black box drug, linked to causing cnacer in rat, as well as having other side effects.   It is a parathyroid hormone synthetic, and grows new bone. You do daily shots.
