Pcos... strange symptoms.

i got diagnosed at 17, so 12 years ago with PCOS. during all this time ive had a period then its been months before the next one and id gotten used to this, until a couple months ago.

The bleeding/spotting is a bit irratic now. I can bleed/spot for a couple days/week, have nothing for a few days then it start again.

i have backache on an off, have done for around a year now and have put that down to the fact i am overweight.

however.... i googled my symptoms which i know is a bad idea because it came up with cervical cancer!

i dont have pain or anything during sex, but the backache and irregular periods are starting to worry me!

i went to the doctors with my concerns who wasnt really helpful, wasnt concered as my smear is up to date and is only due next year. they did do a CB25 blood test (i think thats what its called) because i requested one which came back fine. but dispite me requesting a smear they wont do one. (which tells me they arent overly concerned)

i was sent to the womens health clinic to get swabs done to check for infection, havent had the results yet as it was only a couple days ago. she said my cervix looked fine and couldnt see anything untoward.

i guess i was just wondering if anyone else has had anything similar?

if i need to be worried?

anything i can do to help myself?

can pcos symptoms just change from no periods to constant ones?

im not on the pill, any advice would be very helpful! im very worried and its started my anxiety off. barely sleeping.

I was diagnosed at 17, now 37. The only way I can have a period is if I take The Pill and then get a withdrawal bleed. Occasionally, I might get some natural bleeding but not often. Is your blood red or dark brown? If it's dark brown, it's old blood. Not only does The Pill balance your hormones but it regulates your bleeding (artificially). So if you have a build up of old blood, periods clean out your uterus, so it's healthy to have regular ones, even if they are artificially induced via withdrawal of the pill. (The brown tablets). If I don't have a period for a long time, I forget or whatever, I get bloated, feel sick and get back pain.

i had brown at the beginning when this first started, now its red like a normal period. some days its a bleed like a normal period with a few very small clots, some like a normal period sit no clots. other days spotting when i wipe, some days nothing. makes no sense?!

i moaned for years that i wasnt having any periods, now i moan that im not lol

Do you have a gynaecologist? If not, get one. They are the best at examining and treating this etc.

I went to see one the other day who did swabs so waiting on results of that. they seemed quite confident in it not being anything worrying like cervical cancer but until i get a definitive no ill worry.

ive changed my diet today and i plan on going swimming tomorrow so hopefully my new diet/exercise plan will help

Have you had your hormones tested? If they are off balance, this will cause irregular bleeding.

I cant begin to tell you this nightmare of a roller coaster Ive been on & sadly I was in the medical field for 25yrs. I didnt start my period til I was 17, at 20 I didnt have a period for a year but I felt the cyst come and go. Then I spotted everyday for over a year. I am almost 50 & it took an emergency csection at 35 for them to commit to pcos. I had 3 miscarriage a prior to my 3 boys all babies stopped developing due to a cyst.I have had one autoimmune thing after another & have to beg for them to listen but they usually want to argue pcos may not be auto immune. During the pcos I was at the Mayo clinic for my Ex & suddenly their doctors diagnosed me w Gillian Barres. Doctors could see I had a large thyroid just by looking at me but labs were normal so they blew me off. I begged for an ultrasound which led to a biopsy which led to thyroid cancer assoc w auto immune. For 8yrs Ive endured terrible scarring from multiple open skin wounds. Seen 10 dermatologist, 2 wound care, blood specialist and all I got was every type of dermatitis and told quit picking. I lost all my teeth from chronic thrush and needed 50k to repair my husband of 32yrs left but thank god an old boyfriend came to my rescue. I again spent years looking this up only to see HS is an autoimmune disease assoc with pcos. I hate going to the doctors bc they all assume Im picking sores and looking for pain meds. I didnt even take pain meds when I had cancer. I have suffered significant bone loss and almost couldnt have any teeth bc the bone below my nose was almost gone. I will be 50 this year & even this saddens me bc its just a brief look at all the things assoc w my health and pcos & they just want to say ea diagnosis was a fluke. Push and push ladies ur life truly depends on it. Good Luck
