PELVIC PAIN for 4 years, doctors are out of options, PLEASE HELP

Hello! I am a 33 year old women with chronic left sided pelvic pain since the birth of my daughter via c-section 4 years ago. The pain started 3 months after I had her. Initially it was a dull aching pain near my left ovary and this is where it all began. I then had an MRI and CT, which showed ovarian cysts.

The first procedure I had was a laproscopic surgery to decompress the cysts. It did not do anything for my pain.

Next, they sent me to a orthopedic pain specialists because they were concerned about sacroiliac dysfunction. I had several sacroiliac injections, but again no change.

Then I went back to my ob/gyn for a vaginal ultrasound to look at my reproductive organs. All the vessels and arteries were enlarged on my uterus. So my ob/gyn sent me to an interventional radiologist. He looked at my original MRI and CT and found pelvic vein congestion on my left side.

The radiologist performed a procedure to look at my pelvic vein with contrast and from that he diagnosed me with pelvic vein congestion. The most frustrating part is that 4 doctors did not see it on the original MRI when the pain first started.

Next, the radiologists placed coils in my pelvic vein trying to occlude the vein so the blood would stop pooling. That seem to help for the first few months, but the pain came back.

I felt like I had only one option, which was a hysterectomy. The hysterectomy made a huge improvement in my pain, but I never became pain free. After being completely healed, I still had pain, but it was different. It was not the knife in my tail bone pain. It was more of generalized constant aching in my left buttocks, vaginal area, and groin.

They believed that I had some type of pelvic floor dysfunction that derived from the the nature of my pelvic problems and/or all of the surgical trauma. At that point I started doing pelvic floor physical therapy, which was agonizing!!! Did that for about 6 months with no improvement. The therapist determined I had a overactive muscle on my pelvic floor. It is constantly contracting and never relaxes. I have also had several pelvic trigger point injections that didn't help.

I am currently under the care of a pain specialist and he and the interventional radiologist are running out of ideas:-(

My daughter is now old enough to understand what I can't do and it's heartbreaking. I just want a life without constant pain and to be able to enjoy life. Sorry, for the ridiculously long post, felt great to talk about it with people who understand!!!! Thank you in advance for anyone who reads or replies to this. I would appreciate any thoughts.

Hi there poor you it's horrible.. I was at physio and trigger points etc.. Which didn't help.. The only thing that relieved mine in the end was acupuncture and cupping on my back and buttocks this relaxed my bottom completely, the stress of it all tenses up everything. The relaxants they gave me helped a little but it was the cupping and acupuncture that relieved it most. I was told with pelvic dysfunction and levator ani syndrome anxiety triggers it immensely.. And when you have these symptoms you can't be anything but anxious it is extremely debilitating.. Hope you feel better soon and hope this helps.. Take care

hi Jen, just make sure you find a good acupuncturist , my woman does the cupping as well as the acupuncture, she is a lovely lady and actually cares. Some people might not know what they are doing.. I hope it relieves it for you , it has for me. I'm 34 out of work because of it and had to move back home .. It's a horrible thing.. Have to stay positive though and not stress 😱.. Very hard.. Let me know how acupuncture goes if you get it done, be interesting to see if it works for others to. Take care 😀
